ABOUT

Originally established in 1920 as a Water Board for the Great Fish River area, and later transitioned into a Water Users Association (2000). 

​

The GREAT FISH RIVER WATER USERS ASSOCIATION manages the distribution of irrigation water supplied by the state-owned Orange- Fish River Water Transfer Scheme, transferring water from the Free State to the Eastern Cape.

Christo Kotzé was appointed as CEO in 2019. Being  previously employed with the Department of Water and Sanitation, Mr Kotzé has extensive experience with water management and monitoring.

Elected as Chairman of the GFRWUA Board in 2018. Mr Raath is a full time irrigation farmer / businessman and a member of the Association.
